When researching inspiration for engagement photos at the beach, we're sure that people wonder how photographers achieve that air of the private moment, even in places known to be busy like the boardwalk at Santa Monica beach. In this instance, we shot the couple using a long lens form the high angle vantage point of the pier, along with lens compression to eliminate nearby objects, and to render the foreground and background out of focus. All of this is aimed at making the subjects really pop in the frame, as well as creating the sense that they had this area of the beach all to themselves. For clients interested in photography, we are happy to share how we achieved the look of an image, but we realize that for most, the end result is what it's all about.
