As longtime professional photographers working in the motorsports world, we've documented many different races on a variety of tracks, including Auto X. Here we see a cover image we shot for Pando Magazine, the official monthly publication of the Porsche Club of America OCR. It features a 996 Porsche owned by a club member who participates in this race frequently, this time at the El Toro Marine base in Irvine, California.
This car has been modified to perform very well at Auto X events, but like most Porsches involved in these events, it can also be an everyday driver. Auto X races are a great way to hone racing skills with a high degree of safety. Unlike door to door or wheel to wheel races, Auto X cars are released individually into the race course, designated by harmless plastic cones, with plenty of room between cars. Drivers race against time, not each other, trying to complete the course in the shortest time possible. If they knock down any. cones, they are penalized. It's always interesting note the differences in driving experience from race to race.
Location: Irvine, CA.
