This image was was made in the showroom of the Mercedes Benz Classic Center in Irvine, CA, USA. It is a great example of a detail image that you have to look for. This classic, full size black town car Benz was parked near another car, probably being restored, under a car cover with a large 3 point star Mercedes logo. I saw the image in my head before shooting it, but, when that happens, you see an image in your head, not THE image, so you have to work for it. You have to walk around, decide what focal length and f. stop would work best, what angle, etc. In my experience, usually a lower or higher angle than eye level will yield a more interesting image than eye level. Then you should try different focal lengths, etc. to keep improving your vision. Sometimes it was a good odea that didn’t pan out and sometimes you have a winner. When I visit a location such as this one, I know I probably won’t have a great shot of a full car, unless they move one for me so I concentrate on what I call “car parts” like this image. I used a Nikon D5 with a 70-200 VRII 2.8 zoom for this image. To keep the ISO down I used a Tripod.
