In the quest for great photography coverage of Formula One racing, one sometimes encounters obstacles along the way. And if you can't go around them, sometimes you have to shoot through them. This image was taken between the legs of a pit crew member during an F1 practice session in Long Beach, CA. Such a moment would be impossible to photograph on a race day, when every millisecond counts. No photographer would want to be the reason a car is late getting out of the pits, or worse yet, the cause of an accident. Practice times are a great opportunity to get more inventive, playful shots like this one.
