Pardis and Brian at the Ritz Carlton

I can’t believe I hadn’t blogged this one!! A few months ago we had the privilege of photographing Pardis and Brian’s beautiful destination wedding at the Ritz Carlton in Dana Point. This beautiful and fun Persian wedding was full of tradition. The Sofreh sparkled under a crystal clear blue sky and the ceremony was replete with symbolism as Pardis and Brian honored ancient Persian customs. After the ceremony, the guests were welcomed into a room regally decorated in burgundy and gold. Square Root did all the amazing florals and Gail Garceau masterfully coordinated the event with her elegant style. Everyone had a fabulous time as they danced the night away!

Keri and Rafik’s wedding at the St. Regis

We love Club 19 at the St. Regis! It was so wonderful to be able to photograph the wedding at this lovely location. The Gazebo is beautiful and Club 19 has an elegant yet relaxed atmosphere. We had great weather, a great team to work with and of course, Keri and Rafik are such a great couple, it made our day all the more rewarding. Kimberly Bradford put a great team together which included Square Root floral design, DJ Mark Hicks, Curtis and Laura of Living Cinema and the talented Layla. Keri and Rafik incorporated an Irish tradition during the ceremony and during the reception Layla honored Rafik’s Egyptian heritage by dancing to traditional Egyptian music once the party got underway. Layla was the hit of the party and even got Keri and Rafik to join her on the dance floor. Here are some of our favorites from this beautiful day…

We recently had the privilege to photograph Lisa and Stefan’s engagement session at a very cool and unusual location. A beautiful, brand new building; complete with a very sleek, modern lobby, open floor space and even a helipad! It was a beautiful day and we got great images (if I do say so myself…). Bri and Kent get married at the Ritz

Under the gentle ocean breezes of a beautiful Southern California summer day Bri and Kent tied the knot in elegant style. The Ritz Carlton Dana Point was the location they chose to start their new life together as husband and wife. Kim Bradford and her team kept all the many details on track and the day went very smoothly. The flowers and decor were done in a palette of white, champagne and tiffany blue. Curtis of Living Cinema captured the day on video and DJ Christopher Lee filled the evening with great music. Bri looked absolutely stunning in her gorgeous gown and we found it hard to stop shooting her. Kent and his guys were tons of fun and we enjoyed every minute of their fabulous wedding. Annie and Thomas, A Beautiful Cambodian Wedding

We had the privilege last month of photographing a style of wedding that was a first for us. Annie and Thomas had a traditional Cambodian wedding ceremony one day, followed by an incredible reception the next. The wedding ceremony usually takes place over a few days, but Annie and Thomas condensed it all into one. We started on a Friday just after sunrise. Annie’s home was filled with incense and flowers. As she donned her first traditional wedding outfit, Thomas’ family prepared for the procession. This symbolizes the journey of the prince Preah Thong to meet his bride the princess Neang Neak. The groom’s procession approaches the bride’s home bearing wrapped platters of gifts, usually fruits and Khmer desserts, and is led by a band of musicians and singers. Next was the “Blessing from the Monks”, the exchange of rings, followed by the Hair Cutting Ceremony. This is where their hair is symbolically cut, representing a fresh start to their new relationship together as husband and wife. Annie and Thomas finished with the Pairing Ceremony. In this final and most memorable stage of the wedding, family members and friends tie the bride and groom’s left and right wrists with blessing strings. The praises and well-wishes of happiness, good health, success, prosperity, and long-lasting love are acknowledged and witnessed by the loud sound of the gong and joyful cheer. The ceremony concluded with a shower of palm flowers thrown over the new couple. The ceremony was beautiful and rich with culture. The next day the festivities continued at the San Gabriel Valley Hilton. Kim Bradford and her team created a gorgeous room using soft whites, pinks and gold. Square Root Designs created beautiful centerpieces and even custom made the lazy susans to fit around the centerpiece. Amazing! The lazy susans were perfect for the 10 course Chinese dinner that was the highlight of the evening. After dinner the guests danced the night away on the circular champagne colored dance floor and enjoyed both Western and Cambodian music. Annie looked regal in her hand made golden gown as did Thomas in his custom suit. We wish them a life full of happiness and good fortune! Here are some favorites from the day. Enjoy!

Rachel and Albert go downtown…

We recently had the opportunity to spend an afternoon with Rachel and Albert in downtown Orange for their engagement session. We had a blast! Rachel’s going to make a beautiful bride in October. Here are a few of our favorite images from the session:

Here I am working with the “motivator”. We like to share what we’re getting with our subjects during a session. When they see what we’re going after, and how they look, they get exited and motivated to help us make great images and have fun at the same time! Thank you Rachel and Albert! Rancho Las Lomas Workshop

Tatiana, Ryan and why you shouldn’t miss your high school reunions.

Strange title, right? Well, there’s a very good reason for that. Last Summer I (Mirta) went to my high school reunion. One of my classmates had a family member getting married and asked if we might be able to photograph her niece’s wedding. I friended Tatiana on Facebook and started a dialog. After a few back and forths, she hopped on the back of Ryan’s motorcycle and rode from Altadena to Costa Mesa. It was a delight getting to know them and we had the honor of being chosen as their wedding photographer.

I loved going to Pasadena for their wedding. We started at beautiful Pasadena City Hall. What a gorgeous building! The day was perfect and we even had a perfect breeze in the hallway to add that little extra something. The ceremony was in Arcadia at Holy Angels and the reception was in Old Town at Cafe Santorini in the Rococo Room. The wedding was coordinated by Tatiana’s good friend Nikola of Platinum Touch Events who did a wonderful job making the Rococo Room look beautiful Here are some of my favorite images from the super fun day…

Viva Angelita’s Concierto Flamenco!

Mirta here. I’ve been meaning to post these pictures since the 25th and before I knew it…it was May! As some of you may know, Flamenco Dance is one of my passions. I’ve been dancing since 1989 and love it! (I must have been a gitana in a past life.) Flamenco is great because you can dance with a partner or by yourself. You can be young, old, fat or skinny…it’s all in the attitude. I performed with Angelta’s Concierto Flamenco on April 24th in the city of Paramount. We did one evening performance and our good friend Tamara Young came out to see me dance. Thanks, Tamara, for supporting the arts! Joe had a great seat and captured these amazing images with his Nikon D3. These images were shot at either 6400 or 8000 ISO and I think that’s pretty amazing! He had on the 70-200 at 2.8. Here are some highlights. Enjoy! Our next show will be on October 24th in Baldwin Park. Stay tuned for info as the date draws near.

At the end of the evening we came out dancing the Rumba to “Verde”. We danced in our street clothes and had a great time.

Candace and Jonathan at Racho Las Lomas

We usually try and post images from our fabulous weddings about a week after the big day, but we’ve been super swamped this past month! So before another week passes by, we wanted to share some of our favorite images from Candace and Jonathan’s wedding. We had the pleasure of working at lovely Rancho Las Lomas again for Candace and Jonathan’s wedding. The day was perfect and Candace looked radiant. Kim Bradford and her team created a beautiful event with Nisie of Enchanted Florist, Elysium video, Naples Chamber Ensemble, DJ Mark Hicks, 24 Carrots Catering and Great Dane Bakery. The day went super smoothly and everyone had a wonderful time.

We live for these impromptu expressions of affection.

Everyone was so excited for the big day. All the girls looked gorgeous in their bold springtime colors.

There were so many beautiful images of Candace it was hard to pick just one…but her with that beautiful blue tile is one of our favorites!

The orange and pinks worked really well in the room and was an elegant touch to the rustic charm of the architecture.

Looks like you can make a cake look like anything! This Live Turns Five Orange Controller was in honor of the groom. He loved it!
